Notification of Death - Gerald W. Gilmore

OFDA received word this afternoon that Gerald W. Gilmore, age 86, of Portsmouth, died Monday, March 20, 2006 at his residence. He was the manager of the F. C. Daehler Mortuary Company, a position he held since 1953. He first started in the funeral business in 1946 at the former Emrick Funeral Home, and came to Daehler's in 1947. Jerry was a member of the OFDA, NFDA and Ohio Embalmers Association.

He is survived by his son, William T. (Ruth) Gilmore; a daughter, Linda (Jim) Sigg; three grandchildren, and a special companion, Mary Mass. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Jane Thornton Gilmore on August 11, 1997.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at the F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Daehlers from 2:00 4:00 PM and 6:00 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 22, 2006.
