Notification of Death - Chelsey Laine Grisier

OFDA received word this morning that Chelsey Laine Grisier, 20, of Archbold, passed away in her home, Tuesday evening, December 18, 2007, after a hard-fought battle with brain cancer over the last year and a half. Prior to her illness, Chelsey had been a Music Education Major at the University of Toledo, where she had played saxophone in the Rocket Marching Band. During high school she had worked at the Archbold Super Valu.

Chelsey was born in Wauseon, Ohio on May 10, 1987, the daughter of Todd and Sabrina (Raker) Grisier. In April of this year she became engaged to Jonathon Shumaker, who has remained by her side throughout her battle with cancer. She was a 2005 graduate of the Archbold High School. Chelsey was a member of the Archbold Evangelical Mennonite Church. Chelsey touched many lives with her warm and caring personality and her very strong Christian faith, and will be sadly missed by those that had the pleasure of knowing her.

Surviving, besides her parents Todd and Sabrina Grisier of Archbold, is one brother Christian T. Grisier of Bowling Green, Ohio; her fianc, Jonathon Shumaker of Pettisville, paternal grandparents Fred and Helen Grisier of Stryker; maternal grandparents Dick and Shirley Raker of Coldwater, Michigan; aunts and uncles Heidi and John Kern of Delta, Marc and Deb Grisier of Toledo, Eric and Gwen Grisier of Archbold, Scott and Cheryl Grisier of Wauseon; and cousins Amelia and Jessica Kern, Grant, Cole, Emily, Adam, Colin and Luke Grisier.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 22, 2007 at the Archbold Evangelical Mennonite Church, 300 Park St., Archbold, OH 43502 with Pastor Stuart Rex and Pastor Brad Bame, officiating. Interment will follow in the Archbold Cemetery. Friends may call in the narthex of the church on Thursday from 6 8 P.M. and on Friday from 2 8 P.M. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Archbold Evangelical Mennonite Church, the Chelsey L. Grisier Memorial Music Scholarship Fund, or Hospice of Williams and Fulton Counties.
