James R. Burr

OFDA received word this morning James R. Burr, 61, of Graytown, died in his residence late Thursday evening, January 1, 2009. He was born June 15, 1947, in Fremont, Ohio, to Irvin and Nettie (Custer) Burr. Mr. Burr was the father of funeral director Gary Burr, Burr Funeral Homes, Inc., Bryan, Ohio and OFDA District 1 President.

In 2007 he retired from security at Davis Bessie Nuclear Power Plant in Oak Harbor after 29 years. Jim was an Ohio State fan and enjoyed spending time at home with his family.

Jim is survived by his sons, Mr. & Mrs. Gary Burr of Bryan and Mr. & Mrs. Brian Burr of Perrysburg; six grandchildren; sisters, Bessie "Becky" Hillard of Elmore, Shirley (Justice) Riley of Lynn, MO, Billie (Joe) Madison of Bettsville, brother, Wayne (Donna) Burr of Williston; and former wife, Christine Burr of Oak Harbor. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Donald Burr, sister, Velma Heishmen, and infant sister, Esther.

Private family services will take place at a later date with interment in Limestone Cemetery, Graytown.
