Obituary for August K. Graumlich II

Funeral Director, Husband of Shirley Graumlich and Father of Andrea L. Graumlich, all of Graumlich Funeral Home

August K. Graumlich II age 86, of Worthington, died on December 4, 2018 at home.  Third generation owner of Graumlich Funeral Home, licensed funeral director and embalmer. Member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Graduate of Columbus South High School (class of 1950) and past President of the Alumni Association. Completed Pre-Mortuary Study at The Ohio State University, Graduate of The Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.

Korean War Veteran, 8th Army Headquarters, 293rd Graves Registration Company. Civil War Collector and Speaker. Former member of the Central Ohio Civil War Roundtable and The Confederate Historical Institute. Member of the National Funeral Directors Association, Ohio Funeral Directors Association and past President of the Central Ohio Funeral Directors Association. Member of Southgate-Potter Lodge #782 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, Aladdin Shrine Temple, and Beacon Chapter OES #593. A downhill ski enthusiast, who skied the eastern and western slopes of the Rocky Mountains, from the Grand Tetons of Idaho and Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Lake Tahoe, Nevada, Squaw Valley and Heavenly of the Sierra Madre Mountains of California, New England, French, Swiss, and Italian Alps.

Preceded in death by parents Theodore R. Graumlich and Wanda R. (Kirkman) Graumlich.  Survived by his wife of 63 years of marriage,  Shirley (Pribble) Graumlich, two sons August K. III “Chip” and his wife, Betty Graumlich of Richmond Virginia; Jeffrey K. and his wife, Judy Graumlich of Dublin; twin daughters Leigh A. and her husband, Richard Reynolds of Powell and Andrea L. Graumlich Brown, (fourth generation owner of Graumlich Funeral Home) and her husband, Korey Brown of Powell. Granddaughters Elizabeth Graumlich of Virginia and Alaina Reynolds of Powell.

Family invites friends to be received Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 12 noon to 4 pm at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME 1351 S. High Street. Funeral service Monday, December 10, 2018 at 11 am at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 80 E. Markison Ave. Columbus, Ohio 43207, Pastor Edward Engelbrecht and Pastor Floyd L. Stolzenburg officiating. Interment with Military Honors at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, Ohio.
