Mona graduated from Lash High School in 1945 and received a year’s education at Newark College of Commerce courtesy of The Ohio Plastic’s Student Program. She would attend classes in the morning, ride the noon train to Frazeysburg, working afternoons in the office or in the plastics molding department. Mona enjoyed quilting and sewing which she learned at a young age. She would sew clothes and full bedding sets for her granddaughter’s dolls. Mona could often be found working with her husband, Bob, in his shop. She was more than a helper; she would run the table saw and refinish furniture as well as anyone else. While living on the farm Mona shared oil well pumping duties with Bob and was considered one of the first women oil pumpers in the area. She was a hard worker and dedicated mother and grandmother. Mona loved her family and would often be heard telling others how proud she was of each one of them.
